Class Wrap Up - 18th Feb 2009

WRAP UP
Whoa - is it just me or has the Hobart swing community increased dramatically this year? There is barely room to swing a cat, let along a cute girl in class!! The consolidation of our Tuesday and Wednesday classes, the restructure of class times and venues, and the introduction of monthly specialty nights seem to be just what the good doctor ordered!

Barry and Kara are steaming forward with gusto, please be sure to check the Tasswing newsletter for more info on the "Camp Oz" revision that was put on offer last night.

The 7.00 class offered both a challenge and an opportunity to refine everyone's skills and talents! The class was put together to offer suggestions in how to combine Six Count and Charleston as well as show a new way of doing Six Count (with kick steps!!).

Beginners class nearly ballooned out of control, a massive thanks to who ever is putting the good word out there! Numbers are high, energy is high, the instructional volume is high!! This week was first week Charleston, with a few reverse Charlestons, Double Kicks and the ole Hip Flick.

A special hello and thank you to some students who came back this week after being away, its always a fuzzy feeling to see the return of long lost students, especially ones who are just popping back to Hobart for a visit!!

A big welcome to students who are thinking about coming along next week, don't worry, just because it will be our second week of Charleston, you do not need any dancing experience. We always start from scratch and build our way up! Looking forward to meeting you all!

WHATS NEW
Next week at 7.00 Duncan and I will introduce/revise getting into, getting out of, and moves within Tandem Charleston (the Charleston where the follow stands in front of the lead). New students are welcome to this class, provided you have a fairly sound knowledge of the Six Count basic and the Charleston basic.

March will see us commit to a MONTH BLOCK for the 7.00 class, to teach Swing Outs to students new to this move. As always, students who would like to revise their Swing Outs are more than welcome, however this block is really aimed at introducing this move to students who have not been introduced before! It would be really great to try to get even numbers as far as leads and follows, numbers have been great in both the current 7.00 and the 8.00 class.. Keep up the good work!!

For students who are interested in moving up to the 7.00 class, sticking with the 7.00 class (or popping in from the 6.00 class), it might be a good idea for you to think about investing in a monthly pass! For 60.00 you can purchase a pass that will get you into ANY Tasswing class for 30 days. This means all you have to do is attend the 7.00 and the 8.00 class, as well as a specialty class and your pass has well and truely paid for its self!
